Coming hot on the heels of the London Film Festival, and boasting a line-up just as thrilling, UNDERWIRE is the only UK festival dedicated to female talent in short filmmaking across the crafts, from directing to cinematography to sound and everything inbetween. A celebration of women’s cinema that aims to change the industry ‘from the inside out’ and recognises that the inequality women face in film needs to be addressed by showcasing, discussing and actively promoting our work to growing audiences? This is a weekend not to miss.
UNDERWIRE is ever-expanding and 2015 will be its sixth and biggest year, moving to Hackney Picturehouse to make use of its huge cinema facilities. We are looking forward to not only a bunch of carefully selected short film innovations and panel discussions on a range of female representation issues in the industry but, for the first time, three feature film previews, including a 20TH anniversary screening of Emma Thompson’s SENSE AND SENSIBILITY. There will also be an Best Under 25 Award that gestures to the next generation of women trying to break into the industry.
All in all, an array of unique festival features that could potentially make UNDERWIRE the female film event of the year. Read all the information here and stay tuned for Girls On Film coverage.
